Provenance:

It constitutes a splendid example of the canvas here offered made known by Rudolph in his study on Niccol & ograve; Pallavicini and his collection dispersed in the first met & agrave; of the eighteenth century. According to the scholar who had the opportunity to examine it again from life our painting & ndash; once accompanied by another canvas now in a different collection & ndash; probably reflects one of the six overlays painted for Francesco Montioni not yet found in the original version.
